WOODYARD EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

WELCH (ANNA B.) MEMORIAL FUND


Eligibility: Applicants for this scholarship must have been a resident of Coles or Cumberland County for the past five consecutive years. It is necessary to re-apply for each year attending school. It is understood that medically related fields of study (i.e. nursing, medical technicians, etc.) will receive preference in awarding scholarships according to the Last Will and Testament of Leander M. WOODYARD EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP


The Lincoln J., Florence M., and Bonita J. Woodyard Education Scholarship is awarded to a teacher education student who has demonstrated academic excellence and good moral character. The recipient of this scholarship must be a Sophomore or higher standing by Fall 2007 with a declared academic major in a field leading to teacher certification and a minimum GPA of 3.00 at the time of application and payment of the award. The recipient must be of good moral character and a student during the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008, as the scholarship is paid ½ in the Fall and ½ in the Spring. Scholarship applications are available through Eastern IL. University Dean’s Office, College of Education and Professional Studies, 1420 Buzzard Hall, Charleston, IL 61920. Application deadline is Thursday, March 15, 2008.


YORK (HAZEL)TRUST FUND SCHOLARSHIP


The applicants for this award should be seeking to become a medical doctor or nurse and agree to spend not less than two (2) years immediately following completion of training practicing his or her profession in Shelby County, Illinois. Scholarships are awarded annually. The applicant must be a full-time student at an accredited college or university. Grades, financial need, and character will be some of the basis for the award. The student may receive this scholarship more than once by reapplying for the scholarship each year he/she is in college or school.
