Several scholarships are available through the AMVETS program, such as AMVETS Post #100 Scholarship, *Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation, *Paul Powell Memorial, Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship, *AMVETS Auxiliary Memorial Scholarship, *AMVETS Auxiliary WORCHID Scholarship. Please note, some scholarships are available to those who are not children of veterans. Applications should be obtained from your high school counselor prior to writing to AMVETS Department of Illinois State Headquarters, Scholarship Chairman, 2200 South Sixth Street, Springfield, IL 62703. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP


Local American Legion Auxiliary organizations have information regarding assistance in many different fields. Available are: Nurses Scholarships, Children and Youth Scholarships, Trade School Scholarships, Opportunity Scholarships (to continue education), and Illinois Scholarships for Junior Auxiliary members. Nurses, Children, and Youth Scholarships are open to all students. All others must be a veteran or the child or grandchild of a veteran to apply. ALL HAVE SEPARATE RULES AND ELIGIBILITY, anyone interested should contact a local Auxiliary Unit or the Department Headquarters’ Office, PO Box 1426, Bloomington, IL 61702-1426 by November 1st.

The Order of AHEPA offers scholastic scholarships to qualified students of Hellenic Heritage and/or who have a parent that is an active member of AHEPA. Several are for financial need and two combine scholastic achievement with athletic ability. The applicant must have applied to a four-year college or university pursuing undergraduate studies. March 15th is the deadline date for applying. All applicants must be a high school senior, and the applicant must have maintained a minimum of a B average or its equivalent during the entire high school course of study.
